Weekly Worship

There’s a lot to love about traditional Presbyterian worship: its reverence, its use of God’s Word, its joy and solemnity, its liturgy and intentionality.

Aspects of our service may seem familiar even if you’ve never been to a Presbyterian Church before. We confess our sins, sing hymns accompanied by organ and piano (and often trumpet, too!), listen to Scripture, hear a sermon, profess our faith, and pray. Our liturgy follows the Book of Common Worship, the liturgical resource for the Presbyterian Church (USA). Even though most of our services follow a similar liturgy, traditional worship is never boring!

Communion

We take the Lord’s Supper on the first Sunday of each month (and on special feasts such as Easter and Christmas Eve). All who accept Christ as their Savior are welcome to partake.

Music

Ours is a mixture of congregational singing and special music. We often feature UNT students and other guest musicians who offer their talents for the glory of God.

Children

Although we don’t currently offer children’s church, coloring books and activities can always be found at the back of the sanctuary. We welcome the sounds of scribbling crayons during the service! We also have a nursery with a changing table, cribs, and lots of toys.

Special Services

Each year, Christians commemorate certain events in the life of Jesus and the Church: among other days, Christmas Eve and Easter are causes for celebration, while Lenten services such as Good Friday offer an opportunity to reflect. Because these services are special, we adapt our worship. On Christmas Eve, this means more readings and special music. On Palm Sunday, we start the service outside, waving palm branches and singing shouts of “Hosanna, Loud Hosanna!” On Maundy Thursday, we share a quiet meal, and on Easter we rejoice in Christ’s resurrection. We even have an annual pet blessing!
